Overview

Verathon® is looking for a Senior NPD Procurement Manager to become the newest member of our Operations team located in Bothell, WA.

The Senior NPD Procurement Manager is responsible for ensuring supplier and material readiness to support new product builds across all phases of product introduction—from early prototypes through production transfer. This position bridges Procurement, Program Management, Engineering and Operations, ensuring that component availability, supplier readiness, and logistics execution align with factory build schedules.

Acting as the tactical procurement lead within NPD programs, this role translates engineering and program requirements into executable sourcing and purchasing actions while maintaining compliance, cost control, and delivery performance in a regulated medical device environment. The Senior NPD Procurement Manager also supports supplier development, cost modeling, and early supplier engagement to achieve program cost targets and long-term supply chain scalability.

Responsibilities

• Partner with NPD Program Management and Operations to translate factory build schedules (EVT, DVT, PVT) into procurement and material readiness plans.
• Provides inputs into early BOM completeness and supports the transition of sourcing activities to production purchasing.
• Execute purchase orders for prototype, pilot, and validation builds, ensuring on-time material delivery to support program milestones.
• Collaborate with Sourcing Managers to identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers for new components, tooling, and subassemblies.
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms for new components to meet program target costs.
•  Understands and development cost models that lead to product cost roll-ups, PPV tracking, and margin performance reporting.
• Ensure suppliers meet technical, quality, and regulatory requirements prior to validation builds.
• Manage first article procurements and coordinate delivery for design verification and validation activities.
• Drive supplier cost reduction and value engineering (VA/VE) initiatives for assigned NPI programs.
• Partner with Supplier Quality and R&D to resolve early production issues and improve supplier capability and process control.
• Provide early procurement risk assessments, cost impact analysis, and mitigation plans during design and pre-launch phases.
• Serve as the primary procurement liaison to Program Management, Operations Planning, and Manufacturing Engineering for assigned programs.
• Maintain accurate procurement data within ERP and PLM systems, including part master setup, PO status, cost updates, and delivery tracking.
• Support continuous improvement in sourcing and procurement processes to enhance agility, visibility, and cost competitiveness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field required.
• 8+ years of experience in procurement or materials management, preferably in medical device, aerospace, or other regulated manufacturing industries.
• Hands-on experience supporting new product development or introduction (NPI/NPD) programs.
• Demonstrated experience in cost modeling, supplier negotiation, and sourcing of electro-mechanical, machined, and plastic components.
• Knowledge of ISO 13485, FDA QSR, and supplier qualification processes preferred.
• Proficiency in ERP and PLM systems (Epicor or SAP preferred).
• Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills with the ability to balance cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
• APICS or ISM certification preferred.

Salary range - $116,980.00 - $156,150.00 (Compensation will vary based on skills, experience and location; it is not typical to be hired at or above the top of the salary range).
